Weigh-In

Ah, yes... another Monday rolls around and here I sit wondering to myself "Where the heck did the last seven days disappear to?".
Most important thing first: Baby (my little kitty) is doing very well and slowly recovering from her mystery (and very expensive) illness. This may be down to the fresh chicken and fish she's been having every day:)
I would love to blog more than once a week, but at the moment just can't seem to have the 'oomph' to do it. It's not because I'm too busy, haven't got the time, or have a dodgy computer (well, I DO have a dodgy computer, actually, lol), but simply because I don't want to. Sort of. The want is there, the will is not. I guess it's just sheer laziness. Thinking on this point, I realise that I am a VERY lazy person! I diet lazily - no hard work-outs for me (not that my health would allow it anyway!), and I'd rather say 'NO!' to a piece of cheese than have to work off the few calories it would add to my intake. Another confession... I am an obsessive calorie counter! I know it's not always a good thing, but once those numbers are in my head, they tend to stay there.
I did do something quite bad this week - I weighed myself mid-week. It was terrible! Not a single pound dropped... and that made me feel quite despondent. I'd been exercising gently every day and controlling my calories, and to see no results was awful. Still, I stuck to the plan for the rest of the week, and weighed myself today not really expecting much of a change. To my utter surprise (and delight), I had lost 5lbs :)
So... The weigh-in this week is: 14 stones and 9lbs (205 lbs) I'm actually doing this! I am succeeding!
My aim is to lose about 15lbs a month, and I know sometimes this won't be possible, and that the smaller I get the more difficult it will be to lose larger amounts of weight. However, I am still going to be positive...
I am on a happy-high... 5lbs!!! I have the biggest cheesiest grin on my face right now - and I am only 5lbs away from my next goal :)

Weigh-In

I was supposed to post this yesterday, but got sidetracked completely... my poor little kitty is very unwell, and Hubby and I had to rush her to the vets. A few injections and a check-up, and Hubby's wallet was £150 lighter... if only I could lose pounds so easily :)
Anyway... we're taking her back tomorrow for another check-up, and hopefully she'll be on the mend (and costing a lot less!).
So, I did manage to weigh myself yesterday, and it's good and bad news. Bad news is that I haven't lost as much as previous weeks, but the good news is that I lost 5lbs!
This takes me to a round 15 stone (210lbs). I know I need to be patient, and that losing weight slowly and steadily is best... but this diet malarkey is an old game for me - "been there and done that" so many times before... and to be honest, I don't think there's much difference in how you lose weight, as long as you choose a way that feels right for you. Losing 1 or 2 pounds a week would be torture for me, and I'd give up and go back to a less healthy and bad lifestyle. This way, I can see a difference and it spurs me on to keep heading towards my next goal.
Talking of goals, I thought I'd list mine so that they are there for a reminder for me, and when I reach each goal I'll have a massive feel-good feeling :)
1. Go from being 'morbidly obese' to 'obese' (achieved)
2. Reach 15 stone (210lbs) (achieved)
3. Get below 200lbs
4. Reach 13 stone (this is one of my hardest goals to attain)
5. Go from being 'obese' to 'overweight'
6. Reach 11 stone
7. Go from being 'overweight' to 'normal'
8. Reach a weight below 9 and a half stone (133lbs)
9. Maintain

There it is... at least a years' worth of hard work in 8 goals , and a lifetime after that of goal 9. BUT... I know I can do it :)

I Am Obese... YAY!!!

Yes, I am cheering because I am obese. NOT because I am proud of my weight... but because I am no longer in that terrifying category of "morbidly obese". I shall celebrate with a bit of housework, and a caramel snack-a-jack :)

Weigh-In

If I could turn my frustrations at Blogger into pounds and ounces, I'd be a skinny-minnie by now lol. For well over an hour, Google has been telling me that my e-mail account associated with this blog does not exist... grrrr!
Did I grab the huge bar of Galaxy chocolate that my daughter has stashed in the fridge and take the usual route of dissapating frustration by eating it all? No I didn't :) I sat here trying to sort it out, and then when I felt a bit peckish I grabbed a 33 calorie snack-a-jack.
Can you see that halo and smug smile I have right now? lol
Time for a weigh-in ...
This will be a big one because I am taking it from my weight two  weeks ago which was 242 lb s.
Just ran downstairs to jump on the scales and they read (drum roll, please)
16 stones and 1 pound.
Thats 225 pounds, and a drop of 17 pounds!
I am somewhat chuffed :)

The Weigh-In (week 6)

Ah, yes... the dreaded weigh-in day.
I'd been putting this off since this morning, lounging around and avoiding the scales (no last-chance workout for me!) until I could delay it no longer.
I stepped on... and the digital numbers rose and changed until they stopped at 15 stone on the dot (210 lbs). Yay! I had to get a photograph of this, so I got my camera ready next to me, jumped on again... and the scales read 15 stone and 1 lb. Boo! Still... it's only a pound, and even at 15 stone and 1 lb, I've still managed to lose 5 lbs this week! That brings my total weight loss so far to two and a half stones - which is 35 pounds.
I'd do a little dance, but it's just to hot here to do anything!

The Weigh-In (week 5)

I'm still not sleeping very well - so I've just got ot of bed, had an anti-histamine and a huge glass of water, and decided that as I was up I may as well weigh myself and get it over with. The news is much better than I expected!
This week, I have lost...
6 pounds!
I am now 15 stone and 6 pounds, which is 216 pounds. I'm getting ever-closer to that stepping-stone goal of getting under 200 pounds, and I've dropped from a dress size 26-28 to a dress size 18 in the past five weeks - that's a dress size a week!
I'm not going to get complacent now though... I know that the hardest part is coming - the time when the weight loss slows down, and it takes a lot longer to reach the next goal. I just have to remember that any weight loss (or even no weight loss), is better than a gain. In some ways it's harder as time goes on because I know I have to prove myself, and the journey seems never-ending... but in other ways it is getting easier - healthy eating is becoming a habit and I'm not automatically reaching for cakes or sweets when the going gets tough. Oh, I'm not saying that this whole lifestyle change is easy - far from it - but the rewards for all the hard work are paying out a little bit, and I know the journey is worthwhile.

Right, I'm hoping that this anti-histamine will kick in at any moment and I can get a few Zz's before my shopping delivery - then it's another day cooking!

The Weigh-In (week 4)

A disappointing week for me so far - but entirely due to my own weakness and stupidity.
I had pizza
And onion bagels with butter.
I made myself very ill with this sudden influx of fat and bigger portions...
Yes, it does serve me right.

AND, on top of that, me being ill meant that I haven't exercised at all... so I was expecting a weight-gain this week.
However, I did manage a 2lb loss.
Okay, so it's not a mega-loss - but it is a loss, and I'm not going to beat myself up over it at all.
So... todays weigh-in leaves me at

15 stone and 12 pounds (thats 222 lbs)

The way I look at it right now is that I started of weighing in at well over 17 stone, and already I'm down to the 15's (just)... so for now I'm not being down about it - I'll just try harder this week and not give in to temptation. But those bagels were sooooo good! *lol*

***UPDATE
I'm a lot happier right now... Last week I was 226 lbs, and this week I'm 222lbs... so I lost FOUR pounds, not two!!! Yay!!! That's twice the good news I thought I had :)

The Weigh-In (week 3)

A disappointing week for me this week - a loss of just 4 pounds :(
Maybe it's just one of those things - because the only thing I have done differently for this week is eat less yoghurt than I have the previous two weeks.  I'm so disappointed in myself. Like almost everyone in my position, I wish I could wake up tomorrow morning and find myself slimmer and beautiful... but it's taken me years to get as fat as I am, and I know it should take a reasonable amount of time to get to a 'me' that I'm comfortable with and that I like again. But I am just so impatient!
I haven't had the chance to get on the X-Box and try out the "Biggest Loser" 'game' yet - house visitors and busy times have stopped me for the time being. I am impatient to get started on that though - losing half as much weight this week as I did last week has brang my mood down - but it's also made me more determined to lose extra weight for next week. I don't like feeling like this - I hate being disappointed nearly as much as I hate being fat!

Staying positive is a struggle - there's that voice in my head that weeps "Why did you let yourself get like this?", the nagging that cries "You're pathetic!", and the ptiful wail of "You can't do this!". When you get to be as big as I am, you make jokes to hide behind (BIG jokes!).

"Inside every skinny girl is a fat girl screaming for chocolate!"
"Lord, if you can't make me skinny, please make my friends fat!"
"Life threw me some big curves... they all ended up on my backside!"

But the joking is a mask... a place go to so that no-one can see how much hurt there is within those folds of fat, in those chubby cheeks, and flapping by those bingo-wings.
I get that a lot of people love being large - they love themselves with weight and curves... they're happy. I'm not.
Maybe this post should be ignored as the whining voice of a person who just needs a kick up the jacksey - stop complaining, get positive, and get moving!

How do others maintain a positive outlook, I wonder?

The Weigh-In (week 2)

Ah, yes... the dreaded 'weigh-in' day is here again. Although I'm still a "Big Beautiful Chick" (or an Old Hen *lol*), my weight is still plummeting in the right direction. Two weeks into this whole diet and lifestyle change and I'm buzzing! It may be the Kinect that's helped - or maybe the jumping on the trampoline... but I've dropped more weight than I thought I would. Of course, hot sunny days and a craving for salad helps too :)
So...
Another drum roll for me this week...
I've lost ANOTHER
8 pounds!!!!

I am now at 16 stone 6 lbs  - that's 230 lbs on the nose!

A Weighty Decision

Can you weigh yourself too often?
Of course!
It's just that, if you think you're doing well, then you want to see if the weight has really dropped off. I weigh myself nearly every day. It's a good thing at the moment, because this diet and lifestyle change has just begun and so the weight is coming off relatively quickly. Oops, I nearly wrote "easily" instead then... trust me on this - it is so NOT easy right now. Every day is a battle not to binge on every packet of low calorie food I have in the house ... in one sitting!
So... a weigh-in a day really should be thought of a a bit of a no-no. What happens when the weight slips off a little less quickly? I'll get on the scales that one day and cry like a baby when there's no change from the previous day.
I am trying to let go of obsessive weighing... maybe start weaning myself off of the scales slowly untl I get to a point where once a week is the 'norm'. But it's hard. The elation right now of seeing pounds slip away is addictive!
